Refinishing Wood Cabinets and Doors
Watco is a Budget Friendly Alternative that does not look like it.
If your kitchen cabinets and/or doors have a stain finish that is worn out or has scratches and nicks on them, then Watco is the way to go.
It is cheaper than painting or replacing them and they look beautiful like they did when they were brand new.
We use a stain Danish Oil called Watco.
Watco is made by the RUST-OLEUM corporation.
We look for a color that is close to what the cabinets and doors are now.
Watco wipes on to seal, protect and enhance the natural look and feel of the wood.

Watco Danish oil is a brand of wood finish product also referred to as an oil/varnish blend because it contains both penetrating oil and varnish.
Danish oil is used to finish and protect wood surfaces from moisture.
This product will make your old worn-out cabinets and doors look like new.
What Watco says about its product:
“WATCO® Danish Oil is a unique blend of penetrating oil & varnish hardens in the wood, not on the wood. WATCO® Danish Oil penetrates deep into wood pores to protect from within and to enhance the natural look and feel of the wood. It creates the rich, warm glow of a traditional hand-rubbed finish. Many projects can be completed in less than an hour – simply brush or wipe on and wipe off. WATCO® Danish Oil is the choice of fine woodworkers and novices alike. Please read product labels for additional directions and precautions before using.
- Indoor use only (not recommended for Floors)
- Stain, Seals, & Protects in one easy step
- Will not crack, chip, or peel

Watco comes in 8 colors to choose from so you can get a close match.
When we apply this for a customer, we place heavy duty tarps down on all the floors and mask off with masking paper and plastic the surrounding area and then take off all the handles on the doors and cabinet knobs.
We brush on Watco and then wipe off. This product will penetrate deep into the surface and it will harden.
